Transmission of West Nile virus occurs through a mosquito
bite. The virus is carried by hosts. such birds, skunks,
chipmunks, horses. Mosquitoes that bite an infected animal and
then bite a human transmitting the disease. The West Nile virus
has not been shown to be passed directly from these animals to
humans.
